VARTAN PAKHSHYAN

1965 - 1991

Yeghpayr Vartan Pakhshyan was one of the faithful representatives of the first generation of Homenetmen in newly independent Armenia, the first Chairman of the Yerevan branch and the first member of the Central Executive from the homeland.

He was born in Armavir on June 1, 1965. He was among the founders of The Armenian Students’ Union during the Artsakh national movement.

On December 2, 1989, after the re‑establishment of Homenetmen in Armenia, Yeghpayr Vartan was one of the initiators of the Yerevan branch and its first Chairman. In April 1991, he participated in Homenetmen’s General Assembly and was elected as a member of the Central Executive.

On December 16, 1991, Yeghpayr Pakhshyan was martyred in the battles for the liberation of Hasanapat village in Artsakh.
